The idea was to embed a little Tassie Tiger in a bronze medallion.. It was too thin I think and it partially melted when the Bronze hit it ! (rough cast picture)..Half the sand impression survived intact (Cope or Drag ?) So .. repacked the top box (Cope or Drag?).. recut the sprue and poured a little plain Bronze one …actually the impression survived a second time and I poured two !

Mashed up the little green beads in the mortice, washed the resulting powder in a wine glass .. (Jen got quite excited .. said it looked like Midori and started looking for some Absinth to make a cocktail)..Then I filled all the appropriate spaces around the little Thylacine (after following Julian’s suggestion to “Thripple Pickle and Brush”).. So who’s had the Absinth now?…and then melted the resulting contraption from beneath with fire !!..Done !!..Thanx Eve for the Beads !

Its about 40 years since I last did a little enamelling so I’m going to have another lick at it .. I want to crush some beads found in a box.. (See “13 Boxes” Exhibition … Friday 29th Nov 5pm at Hammer and Hand Byron Bay) …and make a little Tiger Ring..

The first three of a series of seven #CastIronSculptures dealing with transition and transcendence … They are awaiting (maybe it’s all about waiting?) detailing i.e. Rollicks, Oars, Claws and Bases/Plinths and patina.

I have figured out a way (not the only way, I know) to #sandcast a ring with posts in place for setting a stone !
The pictures here ,are of the rough castings for two more, that did not cast successfully … I had the metal too hot but you can see the method with the ‘master ring cut in half .
The Little Uncut Ruby was a gift from Timmo at ‘The Stonery’ in Banksia Drive in the Arts and Industry Estate near us at
Hammer and Hand….They had their Brilliant Launch on Friday … Lovely people involved and a fun evening was had !
The other ring (Both are Sterling silver) is set with a little pebble off Tallows Beach here at Byron Bay.

So this week I forged a couple of 200mm oars.. and have been #Sand-Casting a bunch them in Bronze for three #Dream-Boats that I made from clay last week at home in the Garden .. Beautiful time !… I was also making some ‘Triple B’ female form pieces (Belly,Bums,Boobs?) for a collection titled “Ascension” ..(they will have rocket fins or wings, plasma cut , gold-leafed of made of wire or forged.. not sure..All the clay models are masters, to be sand-cast in Iron at a local foundry. I forgot to photograph the oars but here are some of the clay pieces nearly ready for casting…
One of them is a Rolly-Poley girl…sigh..

These flowers are forged, fabricated and brazed. they look great when they get rust patina or you can oil or wax them for an interior finish.
