Mya Wessels

Mya Wessels Bio

A child that made things for her Barbies from cardboard cereal boxes in Sydney grew into an adult that makes jewellery for everyone from metal in Hobart.
With no formal (or informal) training and highly influenced by the material she is working with, Mya uses a mixture of reused and new.
With the reused she has the material speak for itself, with the new she makes it bend it to her will.
Experimentation is key, plus relying on the experience of others so things don’t go drastically wrong.
One day she hopes to incorporate multiple aspect of her work and intricately crochet swear words in reused wire without planning any of it.
